To My Beastie

I know I have once again been ignoring my blog, but things have been super busy at work and at home  While my brief stint on the Craftin' Desert Divas Design team has come to an end, I can't help but think of the ever so wise "Maria" from "The Sound of Music" when she said "When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window" and that's exactly what happened!

Just a couple of days after being DT-less, I received an unexpected invitation to attend the Stamping Away retreat at the Whatever Craft House in Newton, Kansas!  It was being held in the middle of October, arguably the busiest time of year for me at work, but it was an offer I just couldn't refuse.  I have to say that I had the BEST time meeting amazing paper crafters, some of which I have admired/followed for YEARS!  I had to contain myself and not be too much of a fan-girl, but it was hard!

I left Newton with 16 sweet crafty friends and had the time of my life!  One of my table-mates was the uber talented and sweet Lisa Petrella!  She and I vowed to participate in more card challenges!  So, we picked the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 304 for our first challenge!

Here is the sketch for this week:

Here is the card that I created:

Lisa and I both gushed over this super cute Yeti!  I used a watercolor background I had made a while back and die cut it using MFT's Cross Stitch Ovals.  I also created the little snowy hill using the same die.  Then I stamped out and colored the Yeti and a couple of accessories using Copic Markers.  The sketch had a thin border on the right, but I didn't want to take away from the oval piece, so I just used the MFT Fine Chevron background stamp and Versamark ink for a subtle somethin-somethin  :)

I hope you like it...

Cheers!

Lin :)

P.S.  Here are some pictures from my crafty weekend!
